When I interview musicians, I usually ask who they are voting for. In honor of tomorrow's primary in Pennsylvania, here's a list of their answers. These are all true, and in most cases I link to the published interview.
Who are you supporting for president?
Kravitz: You know what, I’m still putting that together. I’m still going over every last issue. It’s easy to jump on and say, well, this person. I haven’t come out yet, but I’m definitely leaning in a certain direction. I just want to do a little more homework, to be responsible and really know what I’m talking about. A lot of people just jump, and I don’t do that. But it is a Democrat.
Who do you like in ’08?
50: I support Hillary.
Not Barack?
50: Why, ‘cause he’s black? [Laughs.] Nah, I like Hillary. I like the fact that she didn’t leave Bill, under those circumstances. I like a lot about her. She’s been around, too. I think she was the [real] president when Bill was.
[Of course, 50 has famously waffled on this question.]April 3, 2008
Do you get involved with presidential politics?
Ray: Not really. I just want the world to be better.
So you wouldn’t support Barack or Hillary?
Ray: I would go with Barack, first. And if he didn’t win on that side I would go with Hillary, instead of John McCain, for sure.
Bob Mould
March 4, 2008
Mould wouldn't make an endorsement by name, saying he trusted people to make the right choice.
Can any candidate look forward to a Funkee Homosapien endorsement?
Del: Obama, of course. And then, if he can’t do it, I’ll take Hillary. It would be really nice, actually, [Obama], something new for America. It would give me a little bit of hope. But if he couldn’t do it and Hillary got in there, I wouldn’t be too mad. Just as long as we don’t have that same regime that we’ve had forever. Things ain’t really working.
Who are you supporting for president?
Red Alert: Question mark.
You’re not sure yet?
Red Alert: Question mark.
Should I check back with you later?
Red Alert: I’ll leave it as “question mark.”
Do you know Obama?
Joe: I don’t know him, but I know they trying to get in touch with me heavy. They both trying to get that hip hop vote. They reach out to Fat Joe. They need that Latino support.
Who are you endorsing?
Joe: I love 'em both, man. If Hillary becomes president, I wouldn’t like her no more if she didn’t put Obama as Vice President, just like I wouldn't like Obama no more if she didn't put Hillary as Vice President.

Ben, I don't know who the hell DJ Red Alert is, but I'm inclined to trust his political instincts -- can you let me know when he picks a favorite? Thanks.
Forget DJ Red Alert - I want to know who his Ms. Jordan is voting for. Whoever she decides is best is obviously good enough for me.
As an aside, is anyone really so naive as to be persuaded to vote for one candidate over another based on who a celebrity/politician/other person in the public endorses? How do I choose who to vote for? Just look at the name of this blog - I go by health factor. Whoever has the lowest BMI gets my vote. Congrats, Barack - you've got my vote!
